And now we begin our Traitor Game Essentials re-presentation of Traitor Game VII: A Galaxy Far Far Away. This was my first time hosting a Traitor Game. The initial idea for it came to me as we were wrapping up Traitor Game V, and I made my initial pitch then. In any case, this is the beginning of the conclusion of the initial Cologne/Doom/Darth Jubba trilogy that began in Traitor Game V, and is another step forward in the evolution of the Traitor Games.
Here, for the first time, we have a protagonist host and an antagonist host. The protagonist host hires the Agents (here-in referred to as Rebel Alliance Members) and the Vigilante (the Bounty Hunter), while the antagonist hires the Traitors (also known as Imperial Stormtroopers). Granted, other scenarios proposed around the same time ("It's In the Cards" and "I'll Take Valhalla") also had this element, but this was the first Traitor Game to actually use it. I think it worked out pretty well.
In any case, we shall begin now with the first of the prologues.
Kaine stared incredulously at Evinlea, "Ev...you're kidding...," was all he could manage to say.
Evinlea was leaving. She had almost met her end and it scared her. No more. She took to the air. "Good luck, Obregon Kaine," she called down. "Do not cross my path again if you wish to go on living." She picked up speed and flew through the atmosphere and into the cold reaches of space. She had her own plans now.
No more will I have to help these ungrateful mortals, she thought. It is time I made my own luck in this Atwaal forsaken Universe.
As Evinlea flew away from the planet a tingling sensation permeated over her. She had felt something like it before. "Now wha---"
Evinlea's world went white...
PROLOGUE: UKYO AND COLOGNE
Ukyo Kuonji had been having a bad day.
Oh, it had started off good. Business at Ucchan's Okonomiyaki had been very good that morning, and Ranma and Akane had promised to drop by late in the afternoon. But after breakfast, things started going downhill.
First off, Ukyo had received an anonymous letter at 11am. When she read it, she groaned. It had only been two weeks since she had returned from the Traitor Game in Castle Doom, but it seemed her dimension was still having unwelcome intrusions.
The letter read as follows:
Two weeks ago, I sent you and that Chinese Amazon elder DVDs of you and your new companions fighting the Doombots at Castle Doom. I sent them in advance of payment, but now is the time to pay up. I suppose 300 gold pieces is a good starting price. Of course, you will pay it. You have a nice okonomiyaki business there. And a nice neighborhood. It would be a terrible shame if anything happened to either of them.
Ukyo had seen enough crime movies to know a protection racket when she saw one. She and Cologne had discussed this 'DJTSH' back when the DVDs first arrived. Cologne had concluded that this DJTSH was from some other dimension, but aside from that, the elder had no other information.
Ukyo realized that Cologne must have received a similiar letter, so she hurried over to the Nekohanten (the Chinese restaurant Cologne ran with her great-granddaughter) to talk with her about it. But there was no sign of Cologne anywhere. On her way back home, she was accosted by Cologne's great-granddaughter Shampoo. "Spatula Girl try stealing great-grandmother from Shampoo!" the Chinese Amazon accused.
Ukyo tried to explain to Shampoo that she was not trying to make her great-grandmother desert Shampoo in favor of Ukyo, but Shampoo wasn't listening. A fight ensued between the two of them. The fight was interrupted by Kodachi Kuno, who assumed that they were fighting over Ranma. Despite Ukyo's telling the crazy girl to stay out of this, Kodachi joined in the fight anyway. Then Shampoo's would-be boyfriend Mousse showed up, and seeing Shampoo in danger from two threats, joined in. Ukyo was lucky she escaped from that fight with only minor bumps and bruises.
Now Ukyo stood behind the counter at Ucchan's, telling Ranma and Akane what had just happened.
"Don't worry, Ucchan! I'll find this DJTSH for you!" Ranma replied. He briefly turned to Akane sitting next to him, who looked less confident.
"Ranma honey," Ukyo began. "We don't even know who this guy is or what dimension he lives in. How are we going to do anything to him if we don't know where to find him?"
"I bet the old ghoul figured out how to find him." Ranma replied.
"Maybe." Ukyo replied. She knew that Cologne's disappearance could not be a coincidence. But where had the Joketsuzoku elder disappeared to?
Cologne stared at the mountainous terrain before her. This was the place where the letter had told her to meet with DJTSH's representative. It had also been the place where she had taught Ranma Saotome the Hiryu Shoten Ha (Heaven Blast of the Dragon) some time ago.
Very little seemed to have changed since the last time she was here. There was no one in sight.
Cologne had not brought any gold pieces with her. She did not feel she needed them. She knew that this would not be settled with gold, but with a confrontation. It could be a confrontation of words, or it could be a fight. Or it could be another Traitor Game.
At that moment, the Chinese Amazon elder caught sight of a shimmering light nearby. She had seen such things on her way to Castle Doom. It was a dimensional portal.
After waiting for a while, Cologne realized that no one was going to emerge from the portal. She would have to come to them. Cautiously, she approached the portal, and stepped through. Everything went white...
When the whiteness faded, Cologne took in her new surroundings. She appeared to be in the reception area of some sort of mansion or palace. A curtain concealed the entrance to another large area. From behind it, Cologne heard a voice.
"Ho ho ho ho!"
Cologne was quick to respond. "I have come to answer your challenge." she responded. "I do not know who you are, but I cannot allow you to get away with running an interdimensional protection racket. Reveal yourself so we may discuss this."
"So, you wish to know who 'DJTSH' is?" the voice replied. "I see no need to keep you in suspense any further."
And with that, the curtain opened, revealing a large area filled with a number of strange creatures. Cologne recognized them all. She had seen them in those American Star Wars movies. And at the center of it was a creature greatly resembling Jabba the Hutt, but with a dark cloak and hood. The creature also wore a tool belt, in which rested what could only be a lightsaber.
"Welcome to my palace, Chinese female Yoda wannabe!" the creature said. " You may call me...Darth Jubba the Sith Hutt.."
"So, how shall we settle this?" Cologne replied. "With negotiation, or with a fight? Or with, as you suggested in your note, a Traitor Game?"
"A Traitor Game, of course! Ho ho ho ho ho!" Jubba replied. "I have already found some participants, and they will be summoned here any minute now."
"Very well." Cologne said. "But if my side wins, you must agree to cease and desist from interfering in other dimensions."
"Your side wins? Hahahahaha!!!! " Jubba's huge belly shook with laughter. "That is VERY unlikely! "
"Now, let us discuss the terms further..." Cologne prompted. Until the players actually arrived, there was nothing more Cologne could do. As skilled as she was, there was no way she would be able to take on a Dark Lord of the Sith (which this Darth Jubba clearly was) on her own...
Anthony Johanson - Geno
Joe Acro - Courage, the Cowardly Dog
GoGo Yubari - Kyon
There will probably be two Traitors, one Vigilante, and at least one 'Agent'.
Check back at this thread tomorrow at 11 PM ET for the start of the game where I explain the specific roles and the game's format. This will also be where the 'Introduction' truly begins, and the characters will meet and greet at Jubba's palace before the first kill, which will be a day or so later. Before the formal Introduction, feel free to write 'prologues' if you wish describing what your character is doing before he or she gets summoned to be part of the Traitor Game.
The roles will be given out sometime before the start of the game. I choose the roles randomly, so everybody has an equal chance of getting a special role. A PM will be sent to you if you have been chosen for a role.
Race Announcer: Welcome back race fans to what could be the closest Wacky Race in the history of the Wacky Races! We are now at the home stretch as the racers enter the Passway of Pomona! Leading the pack is the Ant-Hill Mob in their Bulletproof Bomb with Peter Perfect in his Turbo Terrific a close second, and the Gruesome Twosome in their Creepy Coup not far behind.
But what’s this? One of the racers is picking up some tremendous speed. My gosh! It’s those double-dealing do-badders in the Mean Machine, Dick Dastardly and his sidekick Muttley! They’re easily passing by the other racers!
And I am not even cheating, mind you! Victory shall be mine! Nothing shall get in my way!
Race Announcer: He’s gonna do it! Dick Dastardly is gonna win this race! And the winner is….
Just then, a flash of light appears
What’s going on? Muttley! What is that?!
Muttley: (Shrugs his shoulders)
Dastardly and Muttley disappear in the white light and are transported to an unknown area.
No! I was so close! Drat! Drat! And Double Drat! Foiled again! Muttley, where am I? And why am I surrounded by ugly people? And where’s my car?
Muttley: (Looks up) Uh-oh. (Runs away)
Uh-oh? Where are you going, dumb-dumb? (Looks up) Uh-oh!
The mean machine drops right on top of Dick Dastardly.
RUMINATIONS: Originally, the Purple Skull was going to play Dastardly and Muttley as standins for the Rogue Watcher, but then decided to play them as player characters instead. In the end, I'm glad he did, as they had plenty of fun moments, including some rivalries with the rest of the group.
