And now Part 27 of the Traitor Game Essentials re-presentation of Traitor Game VI: Back to Basics. These are just the bonus features, mostly. The voting for the next scenario, and some wrapup material for this one.
Bottom line is, Ares gains power from conflict- ANY conflict. He wants to break through to other realms and leech power from the conflict, wars, and battles and become THE god instead of one of several gods. Hades gains power from those he has in his realm.

The banished/killed would all end up in the underworld to fuel Hades' might while those left alive would fuel Ares.

Ares would set up the traitors, Athena would find out the plot in time to intervene, but as usual with the gods, decides to have agents do her dirty work. Hades would choose the vigilante (he and Ares do not trust one another). The vigilante would go after traitors AND avengers, but would have to alternate between them-- if they succeed.

I don't know how clear this all is. I thought a cool idea would be to have side quests so that way the characters can show off what they do-- instead of just talking about it (like the Doombot battle). Perhaps the characters must search for artifacts of power.

I also thought the location could change each round to add variety and keep the players on their toes.

I'm hoping more people would post if there's more stuff to play off of. I don't know if it would get too confusing, however.

Anyhow, those are my thoughts. :)
OOC: Hmm, which versions of the Greek gods are these? The Wonder Woman versions, the Marvel versions, the Hercules/Xena versions, composites of all or some of the above, or a completely different version?

I've thought of trying something like the Doombot battle myself, but I'd rather not have it be a blatant ripoff. I guess when/if the time comes, I can always ask for ideas.

By the way, in the original Greek mythology, Hades supposedly ruled over all its lands of the dead. He ruled over the Elysian Fields (the place where noble and virtuous people went when they died), Tartarus (where the wicked dead such as Sisyphus and Tantalus were punished), and the Asphodel Meadow (where those who were somewhere in between were sent).

Anyway, the idea is interesting, though it's similiar to Indigo Al's idea...

They are supposed to be the Wonder Woman versions. I wasn't going to just retread the Doombot battle-- more of a sidequest thing involving the objects of other realms that are enhancing Ares' and Hades' power. It is similar to Indigo Al's, but that wasn't intentional. I just thought that Ares' would thrive on the conflict inherent in the traitor game (perhaps he was even gaining power from past games?) and he and Hades would start out as equals, but eventually degenerate into the god equivalent to a bickering married couple.

The poll should be up and running. It will automatically run until friday. From there, the order of who hosts when will be determined. Whoever becomes the next host can schedule sign-ups for the next game.

You may all vote twice in the poll. However, you cannot vote for the same scenario twice.

Here are the scenarios:
Traitor Game: How Low Can You Limbo Immortus, master of time and Limbo, had become fed up. In every Traitor Game, people were thrust into his domain. They distracted him from his job and left behind scraps upon being returned to life.

More importantly, though, he needed energy. Those terrible Limbo viewing screens had left dangerous rifts in the space-time continuum. In order to repair them, he would need to gather people from different realities with different power levels in order to have the right type of energy.

And so he does.

Where to go from there? Obviously a new game. I don't want to reveal that part of the story.

There would be no limits on characters (unless you guys want there to be), but some elements would be changed: If someone wants to have a special role, they can PM me beforehand with whichever role and whatever reason.

The Breaker role would be determined on a case-by-case basis. In the event of a tie, someone who voted for neither candidate would be chosen as Breaker and be asked to break the tie.

The Agents or Avengers role would be modified (more information upon request), with possibly more members in the team/group.

One Traitor would gain a special ability (more information upon request).

The Traitor Game: I'll Take Valhalla!

With your hosts, the All-Father Odin and Hela, Goddess of Death!

Plot: Every few years, the Norns spin their threads to compel Odin and Hela to compete in a challenge for ultimate ownership of Valhalla.

Should the Agents of H.E.L.A (Her Evil Lowlife Associates) succeed in killing Odin's Warriors [However many people sign up minus the Agents of H.E.L.A.], Hela will have the right to annex Valhalla and damn all the souls of Asgard's noble brave dead!

The Warriors [However many people sign up minus the Agents of H.E.L.A.] MUST succeed in banishing the Agents of H.E.L.A. and saving Valhalla - if not, that means the forces of Asgardian evil will win Ragnarok!!!

One player will be appointed as Hugin or Mugin, Raven of Odin (the Secret Avenger)

I have ideas for immunity challenges, musical guests, and other stuff.

No character theme on this - anyone can play who they please.

I'll also re-submit my idea. It's In The Cards--a cast of heroes, villains, and bystanders find themselves abducted from points of change or turmoil in their lives and brought into a sinister game of murder in a certain curio shop in Greenwich Village. The mysterious "Madame Xanadu" attempts to help the "players" as much as she can--thanks to a spell cast by a mysterious "Host", she can only offer aid in the forms of Tarot readings.

Player requirement: Any character is available, provided he or she come from a major crisis or crossroads in his/her life. Examples: Buffy newly returned from the dead, Peter Parker during the first appearance of the Gwen Stacy clone, Scarlet Witch during her trek to discover her origins in Wundagore, Dick Grayson shortly after the abandonment of his "Robin" identity.

Plop points will be allowed at GM discretion. Players will have a one chance in the game to avoid death or banishment (if the time comes). I'll explain more if I get the next game.

Traitor Game: A Galaxy Far, Far, Away

After the deaths of Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine, it was thought that the Sith were finally extinct. That was not the case, for Palpatine had a secret second apprentice. This apprentice was Jabba the Hutt's lesser known cousin. After several training sessions in which Palpatine instructed him in the ways of the Dark Side of the Force, Jabba's cousin became known as Darth Jubba, the Sith Hutt.

But now, thanks to the help of a mysterious entity, Darth Jubba can look in on other universes -- and not just alternate Star Wars universes, either. Some are worlds in which his entire galaxy is fictitious. Having taken charge of Jabba the Hutt's operations, Darth Jubba now wishes to expand his operations to these other worlds. However, he is not going to be unopposed.

A whole bunch of characters are summoned to Darth Jubba's palace in the desert of Tatooine. Two or three of them, however, will be secretly Darth Jubba's Imperial Stormtroopers (traitors). However, someone from one of the other universes has picked a few of the players to be part of the 'Rebel Alliance' (agents). This person has also hired a Bounty Hunter (vigilante) who will attempt to do in the Imperial Stormtroopers.

All characters from all over the fantasy/sci-fi-/comic book/whatever landscape are welcome.

As for the 'Plop' points, I think I'll have to look over that idea again, and maybe ask a few more questions via PM so I'm clear on the concept before using it. But it sounds interesting.

As for the identity of the person who picks the Rebel Alliance members and hires the Bounty Hunter, I won't give that away right now. I'll probably reveal it right away if this scenario gets chosen.
And here's the last 2:
PROLOGUE Traitor Game: The Plop Thickens

The Emperor God Charon turned the shiny disc over in his hands. He hadn't seen one of these in quite some time. He looked at the Negation Science Officer who had brought it to him. The Officer was kneeling, his head down in supplication. Charon never tired of it.

"Where did this come from?" Charon asked the man.

"We--," the Negation officer began nervously. "We don't know, Lord. It--It just appeared. Its Quantum signature isn't from Negation Space. It originated from another Universe." The Officer closed his eyes tight awaiting th inevitable backlash.

"Interesting."

The Science Officer peaked out with one eye, a little more confident now that he wasn't a smoking ruin. "Its a Digital Disc Storage device, my Lord. We think--"

"I know what it is, Officer. It's primitive but it should suffice." This disc began to spin in Charon's hand. It rose up, suspended in mid-air whirling on both axis until it looked like a little sphere. Light projected out from the disc and suddenly the area around Charon and the Science Officer changed. Soon they stood in the center of a holographic image of a Castle. Charon watched as the Living Tribunal and Dr. Doom wagered against Doom's claim to the Muliverse. He saw the Tribunal teleport his champions into the castle in an effort to stop Doom and watched the events of the last Traitor Game play out. At the end, when the last Traitor was discovered and Doom eventually defeated, the holographic images closed. The disc stopped spinning and floated back to Charon's hand.

"So there is a Multiverse out there," Charon said as he looked to the sky. "Perhaps I should host our own Traitor Game? Was there anything else accompanying this disc?

"Just this, Lord Charon," The Science Officer held up a tiny yellow square of paper. On it was written:

Quote: I thought you should see this. -- DJTSH Charon crumpled the note. "Officer, trace the disc's Quantum signature back to its home Universe and any tangential Universal paths you may find. Have the Technicians prepare to lock in on those coordinates. I'll need them ready in case I want to pursue this. Perhaps with some slight modifications this Traitor Game could supply us with much needed intel. I'd like to see what would happen should the contestants retain some small measure of control."

"As you wish Lord Charon," The Science Officer said as he began to back away.

"Oh, one more thing, Officer. Bring me Castellan Komptin. He's just the man I need to be my eyes and ears during this game. I will summon the Lawbringers." Charon finished with his hands behind his back, staring up at the stars.

END PROLOGUE

If chosen this scenario will be run using a new game mechanic: The Plop. Its been mentioned earlier in thread but I came up with something that I think will make for a more interactive game for everyone. Below is the general idea of the Plop. I will be more specific with Plopping when this scenario is ready to be played or another scenario that wants to use Plops is chosen.

Plot Points or Plops as I like to call them.

What are Plops?

Plot Points are events or situations that move the story forward. In the Traitor Game, Plops are descriptive posts which move the game forward. Plops allow Characters to affect the outcome of the game in varying ways. Plops can affect the Game Environment or be used during the Voting. This gives players a reason to post other than just to vote. It allows them to actively participate in almost all aspects of the game.

Earning Plops

All Players start with zero (0) Plops. Plops can only be earned through role-playing. Role-playing in this sense means Posting other than just banishment votes and interacting with the other players somehow. But if voting only is your thing it is possible to earn a Plop with only a voting post. It is even possible to earn a Plop with an Out of Character (OOC) post.

How Plops are Awarded

The first is at the Host’s discretion. Any time a Player makes a post that the Host considers to be worthwhile, the Host can award a Plop to the Player’s character. This can be anything; an insightful turn of phrase by the character; a humorous in-character flashback post; an OOC post recommending a good restaurant. Host discretion is just that, the Plop can be awarded for anything and at any time. The only prerequisite is a good post.

The second way Plops get awarded is to be nominated by other Players. These nominations could be because of the reasons stated above or just to award a Player’s all around game play. One or two Player nominations in one round, plus Host approval will earn the player a Plop. Three Player nominations in one round will automatically earn the nominated Player a Plop.

Deep within the bowels (ew!) of the underworld, Ares meets with Hades. "So, dear brother. We are agreed? With my plan, together we can overthrow Olympus and be above all other gods-- not just in our realm, but throughout every last universe!"

"Yes, Ares. With my knowledge of the realm of the dead, I have allowed a few... favors in exchange for artifacts which will allow us to breach the dimensions and bring forth beings for each of us to draw power from."

Hades draws forth some of the artifacts- a sleek, black Arabian style lamp, a small silver amulet with a green stone set within, a giant animator's brush loaded with paint, a pair of slippers covered in dazzling rubies, etc.

"Excellent, brother Hades. We should set upon our mission right away-- but as you well know, that bothersome Amazon princess will attempt to stop us. She always tries."

"Hrm. She may be able to best us on occasion, but she is mortal. You are the god of all conflict and I, the lord of the underworld. Not even Athena's champion can stop us once our plans have been set into motion."

I also thought the location could change each round to add variety and keep the players on their toes.

K i'm in again with Yuskey Yamasake :D

moonknight2099 02-12-2007 11:19 PM

I really like all the choices. I went with the Limbo one because I like that it kept with the story of the traitor games. Plus I like that it is open for any charactures from anywhere. That being said, good luck to all. Regardless of who wins I'll probably be in this one too.
Schornforce - Please send in your game's title so I can add it in the upcoming poll.
I didn't have a title in mind. It was just some rough ideas for a game. If chosen I can polish the ideas up some and put something more comprehensive together with a title. Otherwise, the one you've chosen works fine. :)

Joe Acro 02-13-2007 03:40 PM

Well, I voted for one other one other than my own (as you guys can see if you want). I think Skull mentioned something about only voting for two...

The Purple Skull 02-13-2007 10:33 PM

It was close to being in the second page, so I'm bumping it up.

Chris Lang 02-14-2007 01:16 AM

Well, I guess all the epilogues are done, and it's just the voting for the next game that's left, so now it's time for a sort of 'curtain call'.

First, the 'final' six.

Then the other principal players.

And finally, a bunch of characters who weren't 'players' in the game, but were in some way part of it anyway:

It was very difficult choosing who the last 'NPC' in that last picture was going to be. Eventually I decided on Immortus because I couldn't find a good pic for Fedmahn Kassad. Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how the vote goes.

The Purple Skull 02-14-2007 01:29 AM

Very cool, Chris!

I too am looking forward to see who hosts the next game. I don't think I'll be able to play the game itself on account of schoolwork, but if the next host allows me, I'd like to continue the role of game inquisitor. This time however, it won't be the Rogue Watcher this time. He's taking a break to handle some other matters (Emo Donald :p). But he has hired someone to take his place. I have the character in mind. And it should be fun using this character and his sidekick.

Schornforce 02-14-2007 10:27 AM

Great job with the curtain call, Chris! I loved seeing everyone together one last time.

Jeff-E 02-15-2007 10:47 AM

Looks like Chris's scenario won. Congrat's I can't wait until it starts... hopefully I'll have my computer in better working order by then.

The Purple Skull 02-15-2007 12:16 PM

Well the poll automatically closes tomorrow at 11, but if you guys want to start sign-ups tomorrow, that is alright with me. If the results stay the same by the end of tonight, this will be order of traitor game hosts:

1. Chris Lang 2. Joe Acro 3. Tangentman 4. Indigo Al 5, 6. Schornforce and Superheroic (Same number of votes, but I'm sure you guys can work something out)

Joe Acro 02-15-2007 01:05 PM

Looks like it's going to be a while before we get another Purple-Skull-hosted game. It will seem odd, I think.

Congrats to Chris. He beat me by only one vote! No hard feelings, especially since me starting a game now might be troublesome.

Superheroic 02-15-2007 01:44 PM

Well I say it OK for Skull to run a Game anytime he can regardless of who's next.

Chris Lang 02-15-2007 02:22 PM

Sorry I've been slow to respond, but the power's been out for the last day.

Glad people liked the 'curtain call'. Just keep in mind that if you want to use some of the pics in there as avatars, you might have to resize a few of them. Prez's pic is just over the avatar size limit, for example.

Looks like I might very well host the next game after all. I might need a few days to get started, and PM Purple Skull and others to discuss it with. But anyway, I think it's safe to say that there, we'll find out just who 'DJTSH' is (as if we didn't already know :) ) and just what this shady character is up to.

By the way, if anyone can do a picture for Darth Jubba the Sith Hutt, I'd be pleased to see them. I see Darth Jubba as looking like Jabba the Hutt, but with a black cape and hood.

Purple Skull, I'm going to miss the Rogue Watcher in the next game, but am looking forward to seeing who the Rogue Watcher gets to substitute for him.

Well, the vote's still a close one. But we'll see how it goes.

Chris Lang 02-15-2007 02:43 PM
I say we end the voting tonight. Then start the sign-ups Friday through Tuesday so the game can start on Wed.
Hmm...maybe Wednesday or Thursday would be a good time to start the game. I'm not sure which. Anyway, I'm hoping the next game gets a lot of active players. Once the voting period ends, I'll be sending out PMs inviting people to participate.

By the way, Superheroic, have you seen the 'curtain call' pics yet? :)

Schornforce 02-15-2007 03:03 PM

Congratulations, Chris! I can try and do a Darth Jubba pic or two.

Superheroic 02-16-2007 09:01 AM

Sign-ups should start today. Chris Lang should start a new thread for Traitor Game VII sometime today. With the actual game starting Wed I think.

Chris Lang 02-16-2007 12:26 PM

After the voting ends, it'll be time to move on to the next Traitor Game thread. But before that happens, the closing credits:
Haha, great ending Chris.
Thank you.

Well, there are still a few unanswered questions, such as who DJTSH is, why he's sending those DVDs to Cologne and others, and what he means by 'payment', but we won't find the answers in this thread.

Time to head on to Traitor Game VII: A Galaxy Far, Far, Away.

RUMINATIONS: Ah, the curtain calls and the closing credits. My way of giving some added closure to a scenario before we move on to the next one. I think I managed to do curtain calls for most of the next fifteen Traitor Games. In later ones, I only did them when I felt I had enough time and energy. As for credits, I like to have them in every game as a way of acknowledging everyone, and wrapping things up.

The 'stinger' thing was something I wanted to do after having Ukyo spy the Doombots in their standoff. That silly bit introduced by the Purple Skull could have easily been a Big Lipped Alligator Moment, but I decided to reference it again anyway. It still fits the other criteria of coming out of nowhere, having little or no bearing on the story, and being pretty over the top and ridiculous even in context.

The next game, Traitor Game VII: A Galaxy Far, Far, Away was my first time hosting. The Purple Skull offered to give me advice, since it was my first time. In the end, he participated in it as well, giving us plenty of fun moments.

And so we conclude the Traitor Game Essentials re-presentation of Traitor Game VI: Back to Basics. The Cologne/Doom/Darth Jubba trilogy will conclude with Traitor Game VII, but we'll get to the Essentials representation of that a bit later. |}
