And now Part 7 of the Traitor Game Essentials re-presentation of Traitor Game VI: Back to Basics. In this installment, the voting round continues, Mantis makes her first move, and Ukyo makes a new friend.
Jade sighed, and began to answer Strange's question:

"My power to bring the dead back is not the literal means. I use a type of science, called fomicry to do that. "Necromancer" is a title I earned due to partially this, though I am skilled in some Fonic Artes/Magic. In short, all I do is create a body identical to any person. even dead ones. However, I cannot pluck souls, or anything of that sort."
Ukyo overheard the discussion. "We don't need to do this, do we? Doom provided that screen for us. There's another one just like it in the dining room. We can contact Batman in Limbo on that screen."

Ukyo turned to the screen to speak to Batman. Batman was staring at Immortus. Apparently, the two were having some sort of argument. Ukyo decided not to ask what it was about.

"Batman? If it's not too much trouble...I mean, I did give you the info you wanted and all..." Ukyo began.

"I told you already!" Batman exclaimed. "I don't want anything more to do with this Traitor Game. They always kill me in these Traitor Games. Then I get brought back to life, sent to Limbo or somewhere, and then sent back, only so they can kill me again! I'm tired of it."

"But we're stuck here. A lot of us think Wolverine did it, but he might be too obvious."

"Look, I'll tell you THIS much if you just leave me alone and not bother me for the rest of the game. The Wolverine you are with is not from Captain America's universe. He's from an alternate Marvel Universe where he's a total sleazebag. He's more irredeemable than the Eric O'Grady Ant-Man your Amazon elder met in the last game. He might be one of the Traitors, or he might be siding with the traitors for kicks like you suggested. Or he might just be an idiot. I'll let you all decide which."

"I also have some information on the Shrike you were asking about earlier." Batman then gave a large amount of information about the Shrike. It matched what they had learned earlier, and what they had figured out on their own.

"Now that's it! You're on your own now, so leave me alone!" Batman then moved out of view of Doom's monitor.

Ukyo sighed. "I guess we're not going to get anything more out of him." she said regretfully. "What HAPPENED to him in those other Traitor games to make him so angry? Do I even want to know?"

OOC: The info on the Shrike can be found here...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shrike

It turned out that the necromancer wasn't really a necromancer, but merely a man of science that could, essentially, clone bodies. It is all quite interesting. Upon hearing this information, I responded:

"I see. I would not have wished you to resurrect Batman even if you could. However, it was quite nice to learn more about you."

What a minute Strange, if your powerful enough to do half the stuff you say you do. As in not buttin gin Civl War out of fear.

Why don't YOU Resurrect Bat Man?

Joe Acro 01-18-2007 11:19 PM

All this talk of magic led Ken to an assumption, that I could resurrect the dead. It seemed necessary to correct him.

"I have not declared to do anything. However, I can assure you that I will not be resurrecting anyone. There are two reasons. One is that to do so would require use of the Dark Arts, which can corrupt their user. The second is that this game was at least partially designed by the Living Tribunal, one who has access to power and knowledge beyond my comprehension. I dare not tamper with the death dynamic of this game in fear of his power."

I pulled out my zippo and lit a Marlboro (no I'm not being payed for product placement) while walking over to Dr.Strange:

"Hey Doc, can't you examine Bats body and perform a "magical" autopsy, or something? I mean is this place messing with your mojo, or something? You're the friggin sorcceror supreme this shouldn't even be a question... wait this place has to be screwing with you... unless you are the other traitor. Hmmm Nah, you don't strike me like the type but uh, hey between you and me, can you tell me how the dude with all the blades uses the head? Seriously how the hell does he, uh, handle himself? Thats bugging the crap outta me. Don't tell Cap I asked that though, he's kind of an idol of mine, and I don't think he'd appreciate that kind of question."

Weirdopky 01-19-2007 07:10 AM
"It wasn't the only time." Ukyo chimed in. "If what Cologne's journal told me is true, he saved everyone from that crazy Red-Nosed Traitor. But he did it by throwing a crescent at Rudolph and slicing him into pieces. But if what he told us is true, he couldn't have done this murder."

"He said some doctor had taken his place, and he didn't get back here until after Batman was killed." Ukyo said. "Maybe that doctor did it, but I'd be surprised if he did. I mean, I SAW the doctor in the Moon Knight costume, and he looked like he didn't know what Moon Knight's costume was or who he was supposed to be. I don't think a complete rookie could beat Batman to death and skin him like that."

"Of course, that doctor could have been a really good actor. But if Moon Knight's telling the truth, he's gone now. Even if he DID do it, he's practically banished already. We don't have to worry about him anymore, right?" She turned to Moon Knight, hoping he'd give an answer, since only he was in a position to know whether or not this was true.
Moon Knight heard this comment and had to respond.

Ok kiddies. Listen up. That Doctor, Dr. Dorian, was just some random naiive doctor caught up in something he couldn't understand. He had no prior knowledge of me. And Steve, I would watch yourself when you tell me I'm not doing the right thing. I mean, you actually thought it would be a good idea to have Castle on your side, and try to stop him from using weapons to kill. I mean, come on, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that Frank Castle, like myself, aren't the best with teams, and do whatever we want. And by the way, I was NEVER an Avenger, Khonshu, my Lord, had been controlling me the entire time while I was on the west coast.

Captain America took in this information. "In times of war leaders need to make decisions. Difficult decisions. Life and death decisions." Cap moved close to Moon Knight, looked him in the eyes. "How hard was it to decide to CUT SOMEONE'S FACE OFF? The Punisher was a tool I thought I could control. But I wasn't the one pulling the trigger. Castle made his choice. And so did you."

Cap began to walk away, but stopped, "Don't think for a minute that you claiming Dr. Dorian had taken your place makes you innocent. For all we know you could have been inside this castle the whole time. Maybe with the Rogue Watcher's Teleporter still?"

OOC: I just want to point out that even though Moon Knight had apparently switched places with another character in Weirodpky's introduction, that shouldn't eliminate him as being a traitor.

moonknight2099 01-19-2007 08:36 AM

Columbo looking very unhappy adresses everyone "This game is something else. Not only are there three guys trying to kill us, but we also have to vote out potenialy innocent people. I never like to accuse somebody till I have all the evidence. But if I have to vote.. I mean playing with a heart I just can't...Wolverine I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to vote for you."

Jeff-E 01-19-2007 08:43 AM

"I know I already voted but I agree with the L.T. here, Wolvie playing with the heart was just, jacked dude. I mean what the bloody blue hell were you thinking???"

Joe Acro 01-19-2007 09:58 AM

Jeff stated towards me, "Hey Doc, can't you examine Bats body and perform a "magical" autopsy, or something? I mean is this place messing with your mojo, or something? You're the friggin sorcceror supreme this shouldn't even be a question... wait this place has to be screwing with you... unless you are the other traitor. Thats bugging the crap outta me. Don't tell Cap I asked that though, he's kind of an idol of mine, and I don't think he'd appreciate that kind of question."

I was unsure of his thought process. Nothing I had stated so far had suggested a disturbance in my magical ability. I did not understand how my mystical skills led him to a question about Shrike. But, nevertheless, I replied.

"Jeff, I still retain full control of my abilities. Nothing is amiss. I could perform an autopsy of Batman, but, as I was telling Columbo, there is no point. Doctor Doom has supplied enough information. And, for the most parts, our eyes can tell us the story. As for Shrike, I can tell you that, being mostly machine, he does not need to "use the head".

"Is your curiosity about Shrike's biology supposed to tell me something?"

I smirked after saying that. Slowly, I was warming up to this situation and the people there. I remember a time when I would make jokes on a somewhat regular basis...

Superheroic 01-19-2007 10:06 AM

Captain America stepped up behind Jeff, "Jeff's curious about what now?"

Jeff-E 01-19-2007 10:18 AM
Captain America stepped up behind Jeff, "Jeff's curious about what now?"
Sorry sir, more a joke than anything. I am curious about the traitor though. All signs point to Logan, but there is something bugging me. I don't know what it is but there's something wrong here... besides the obvious. So.... anyone know where the mini bar is?

Chris Lang 01-19-2007 10:36 AM
Sorry sir, more a joke than anything. I am curious about the traitor though. All signs point to Logan, but there is something bugging me. I don't know what it is but there's something wrong here... besides the obvious. So.... anyone know where the mini bar is?
"There's one in the dining room." said Ukyo. "And the kitchen has a fridge with plenty of alcohol in it."

Ukyo did not make any further comments about Wolverine. She had already said everything she had to say on the matter. She still couldn't believe how stupid Wolverine was acting. Did he really want to get banished?

"You're right, Jeff. Something IS wrong here, besides the obvious. Anyway, there are three of those traitors, and we don't have enough evidence to figure out who they are. Not yet, anyway."

Superheroic 01-19-2007 10:37 AM
Sorry sir, more a joke than anything. I am curious about the traitor though. All signs point to Logan, but there is something bugging me. I don't know what it is but there's something wrong here... besides the obvious. So.... anyone know where the mini bar is?
"Jeff let me tell you something. I've known Logan a long time and he's a good man. I know he's had his problems but he's always working to overcome them. That Wolverine over there, that's not the man I know. Whether he's being controlled by some outside force, or he's not even from the same Universe as me, that man is evil. Is he a traitor? Most everyone here seems to think he is. I'll be happy with the knowledge that we've sent a bad guy away."

Cap was glad Jeff was more calm now. For a man not used to the company of Superbeings he was holding up well. Cap wanted to try and bring him even more from his shell, "Now, about this feeling you have, I'd be curious to hear what you're thinking."

Chris Lang 01-19-2007 11:51 AM
]Cap was glad Jeff was more calm now. For a man not used to the company of Superbeings he was holding up well. Cap wanted to try and bring him even more from his shell, "Now, about this feeling you have, I'd be curious to hear what you're thinking."
Ukyo listened in as Captain America wanted to know more about Jeff's feeling. "I don't know what's bothering Jeff, but something's bothering me, too."

"It's about them." she said, pointing in the direction of the green-skinned being who resembled the Hulk, the strange dark-haired woman in the skimpy yellow and green outfit, and the man in the weird-looking oddly colored costume. "Have any of them said anything since we got here? Have any of them even MOVED?"

Ukyo looked at them. She noticed nametags, saying 'Hello, my name is Hulk', 'Hello, my name is Mantis', and 'Hello', my name is Monarch'. But none of them so far appeared to acknowledge the presence of anyone.

"Is it possible that they and the Doom Squad got here before the rest of us, and the traitors killed them already? For all we know, they have the means to make corpses look like they're still alive."

Ukyo turned to Dr. Strange, then the Undertaker. "Dr. Strange, Undertaker. I'm sure both of you can check on them to see if there's anything wrong with them. If my idea's right, Undertaker can dispose of the bodies. I'm not dragging bodies into the freezer like Cologne did in that last game."

Ukyo turned to the Hulk, Mantis, and Monarch. "Look alive, people! In the last game, Cologne's host punished someone for not participating by siccing his traitors on him. Do you want to get skewered by a candy cane or something? Then say something, and soon!"

Superheroic 01-19-2007 01:14 PM

"I'm not sure what's happened to them Ukyo," Cap said. "Its possible its some after effect of being brought here. Mantis and the Hulk I know personally. While I can't imagine it, I guess its possible they could be the Traitors. Again, I don't want to convict anyone based on non-action,or silence. I'm just hoping the evidence left behind or the manner the victims died will point to the most likely suspect."

Joe Acro 01-19-2007 01:30 PM

Per a request Ukyo had made, I quickly summoned a spell to check the inactive players. The results were quite interesting...

"Ukyo, it appears the three of them are being kept in a timed stasis field. I cannot detect when they will be set free, but I can only assume it is whenever Doom or the Living Tribunal deem it so. It is also theoretically possible that one or more of them could be members of the Doom Squad, being released only to kill and then being returned. It is difficult to say. Perhaps Doom, the Living Tribunal, or even the Rogue Watcher might be able to tell us."

Superheroic 01-19-2007 02:52 PM

Cap stared at the trio of held contestants. He had forgotten how big the Hulk was. It had been a long time since he stood by the green behemoth. "Well then, how is this any kind of game we can hope to win if the Doom Squad is allowed to remain among us, frozen like this? It gives us no insight to who are enemies might be. Mantis is skilled enough to maybe beat Batman hand to hand. The Hulk's nothing but a bruiser in combat and could certainly beat Batman if he got his hands on him. I don't know this Monarch. I suppose his armor could hold bladed weapons. I can't image the Living Tribunal would be OK with this though."

The Purple Skull 01-19-2007 03:00 PM

Along with the banishment, the next kill will be tonight!

I do have one request though. Whoever I assigned as the Vigilante of the game, please send me back a PM saying that you were the one I chose for that role. I accidentally deleted my reference list and I forgot who I assigned as the vigilante.

Mantis blinked when Captain America mentioned her name again. Gazing around the room, the "Celestial Madonna" actually looked more rested than confused. When Mantis answered the others, she spoke with a serene manner. "This One meditated on the murder of the vigilante you call 'Batman'. She went deep into herself to seek answers about this mysterious, treacherous game."

Speaking thoughtfully, Mantis also regarded Cap with a warm smile. "This One hopes that the years have treated you kindly, old friend. She regrets that we must meet again under such sorry conditions." Then, Mantis faced the less familiar faces gathered nearby.

"You all speak to the skill and violence which were necessary to kill the Batman. However, none of you have addressed another quality needed to accomplish such a feat: cunning. No mere brute could kill a man so capable as that one with such secrecy." Mantis stared meaningfully at Jade.

"This One heard you speak of the discipline and education you acquired to reach your position. She suspects that if you so wished, you could competently murder any of us and hide your tracks. This One names Jade as the killer."

OOC: I'm sorry about the cheesy 'nametag' thing, but Ukyo didn't know their names yet, and I wanted to get the players' attention somehow so they'd respond. It's hard to do that with just descriptions of people.

IC:

Ukyo was actually sort of relieved when one of the 'frozen' people spoke.

"Jade?" Ukyo said, with some surprise. "I suppose you have a point. Batman's got this reputation as being one of the best detectives in the world. So many people have tried to kill him and failed. I guess if we're looking for someone to be the brains behind it, Jade's as likely as any. If he can create clones or whatever it is he does, he can probably pull this off."

"But there are three Traitors. It's possible Jade or someone else with smarts was the brains, while Wolverine was the brawn. We can't rule out Wolverine yet. But if Wolverine isn't the traitor, I bet I'm not the only one who's going to be really, really, mad at him."

Ukyo didn't know the Undertaker could cook. She didn't really want to know what it was he was cooking. She turned away from him and said, to no one in particular "That guy's got more than a few screws loose. I thought that whole creepy thing was just a gimmick."

She hoped Chris Jericho would chime in. Jericho, presumably, knew the Undertaker better than anyone here.

Shortly after our discussion related to the inanimate players, Mantis became active. It seemed she had been meditating the whole time, listening to our ideas and conversations.

I muttered to myself, "It seems her meditative state and the cosmic and mental powers that went into it therein fooled my spell..." I then decided it was time to talk to Moon Knight. Only a few moments later, I bumped into him. "Moon Knight, could I have a few words with you?"

"You're right. I forgot all about him." Ukyo said.

"Hmm...he's British. I know it's a stereotype, but..."

Ukyo raised her voice. "I'm serving okonomiyaki in the dining room with tea. If you'd like any tea, you should go to the dining room soon."

Ukyo turned back to Meowth with a smile. "It might work. Let's see if he shows up."

OOC: Will Arthur Dent show up? That's up to Grimshadow, really.

I grinned cheerfully at Ukyo an' followed her to da dinin' room. Oh boy! Dis is my lucky day-- except a'course alla da moider and mayhem...

Even tho' I'm a evil villainous membah of da notorious Team Rocket and da brains a' my li'l subgroup, I know Jessie, James an' I would nevah hoit someone like whoevah hoit dat Golbatman guy... I feel bad fer da mook. I kinda wish I'd gotten ta talk ta him an' get ta know him a bit. Fer alla' da hardships I'd hadda face-- bein' abandoned as a baby, growin' up in alone, abused, an' neglected, runnin' wit' a gang o' street toughs, joinin' up with a VERY tempahmental dame an' an extremely... uh.... "flambouyant" guy, an' finally failin' time an' again in our one single goal fer our organization-- my woild wuz nevah dis dark an' scary. It's nice to meet a friendly face or two an' enjoy a soothin' meal in da midst a' alla dese crazy goin's on...

"Um... Ukyo?

I jus' wanna say... t'anks. It's nice ta meet someone who shares food an' don't hit me whenevah I open my big Meowth mouth. Dat don't happen too often where I'm from.

If I kin evah retoin da favah, lemmee know."

As Moon Knight responded, acting largely defensive, Ukyo shouted that she would be serving her okonomiyaki in the dining room with some tea. I felt the need for some refreshment and thought a dining table might be a better place for a conversation.

"Marc, I would like to go to the dining room and partake in the dinner being held. If you come with me, I would like to discuss the teleporting you did earlier."

The presentation continues in Part 8.
