So here is Part 18 of the Traitor Game Essentials re-presentation of Traitor Game V: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Traitor. Before I proceed with the re-posting, however, I'll note that this is one of the early Traitor Games from before there was a Discussion Thread (now called the Bullpen in the new CBR forums). So sometimes out-of-character arguments would occur and interfere with the flow of the IC debates and story. Fortunately, once we were able to get a Discussion Thread, we were able to have any sort of arguments settled there rather than have them hold up or overshadow the game.

And now, without further ado, Part 18 of the Traitor Game Essentials re-presentation of Traitor Game V: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Traitor.

BiC: Jimmy sighed.

'I can't believe I didn't find any clues on that Skrull-san. Except that his body was brutally scarred.'

'However, I didn't find any kind of explosives near Skrull-san. Then, how did the murderer kill Skrull-san with the bomb?'

'Also, the sleigh. Why is it so shattered? It's as if the bomb was meant to destroy the sleigh instead of Skrull-san.'

Also, sorry I haven't said much recently. Had to do hannukah shopping. Also, the whole fuss with bolding words, I don't care about actual words. I mean, since I'm host , I take the time to read everything, but if someone bolds the wrong name, I'll be pissed. Also, if we waste more threadspace because of another argument, I'm settling it by banishment. I'm sick and tired of this. PP, keep your cool, or you're the first one out. We had to deal with this last game, and I'm not in the mood to deal with it again. Anyway, I'm tired as all hell, and try not writing anything too extraneous. Purp Skull, take it easy on the flashbacks, It makes it much too hard to get through pages and pages of reading. Chou Blaster, take your time when writing, and fix any mistakes before submitting what you wrote. It's still very hard to comprehend what you write. PS tony stark is gone. He poofed away after Kign was banished, I just didn't mention it, cause it was unnecessary.

Good Night

Feeling that the time was right, Dr. Doom decided to cast his vote.

Though it is not usually customary of me to be a follower instead of a leader, I have decided to go with the current majority and vote for The Joker! This character is too much of a wild card in this game. The Hulk awoke and took assessment at the way the voting is occurring. The Joker had been singled out and the Super Skrull's death certainly fit the Joker's M.O. from what he's been hearing. But it was a little too easy, too convenient. The Joker was being rail-roaded. The Hulk knew a thing or two about that and he wasn't playing. Time to start throwing his weight around.

The Hulk stomped down on the ground, hard. The floor of the workshop buckled, sending shockwaves everywhere. Anyone standing were thrown from their feet. The table the others were playing poker at buckled and collapsed, the chairs were overturned sending those sitting in them for a ride.

"Now listen up! All of you. You're being played by the two Renegade elves. Joker didn't do this. I've got a line on who I think the traitors are."

The Hulk pointed a finger at the Green Lantern. "I know you're one of the the traitor's pretty boy. Its time for you to go!" The Hulk stomped down again for good measure. Again the others were thrown down. "The rest of you non-traitors better get on board and change your votes before I get mad." With that the Hulk stormed off.

Cologne gazed in the direction of the Hulk, and then at the rest of the group. "Our green-skinned friend may have his faults, but he does have a good point. I have been thinking about this for some time."

"The Joker and Ronan the Accuser are on the list of suspects that I gave earlier. But if they are the 'renegade elves', then they were foolish to use a method that matched the one's modus operandi, and to choose a victim who was the other's most hated enemy. On the other hand, they might have done so to throw suspicion off of them. We'd dismiss them both as being 'too obvious' and vote for someone else."

"The Green Lantern is a good choice, as he had the means to construct an explosive mechanism that, once exploded, would leave very little to identify what sort of technology created it. If what I suggested earlier about him is true, and he was forced to kill the Super-Skrull by our host, then it is a tragedy. A young man forced to become that which he hates the most."

"It may be that the sleigh was his idea. A way of placing the suspicion on the Joker. He lives in the same world as the Joker, so he knows all too well what the Joker has done, and what he is capable of. He may be trying to rationalize framing one super-villain for the murder of another as being for 'the greater good'. But he is not emotionally capable of handling such a thing. I believe that this is what caused him to break down."

Cologne was silent for a while. "I do understand, however, the 'greater good'. Kyle Rayner is, deep down, a decent and honorable man. But I cannot let that stop me from doing what needs to be done for the good of the group."

"Regretfully, I vote Green Lantern for banishment."

"On the contrary," Cologne said. "You aren't going to be going anywhere. All the exits from this basement are blocked. I found two staircases leading up, and all of them are blocked by barriers made from the same substance as the walls that Green Lantern tried to destroy."

"Furthermore, even if you DID escape, I would advise against laying waste to certain Chinese villages I am familiar with. There are many people in these villages who are skilled enough to slay a dragon."

When the Hulk put his arm around Cologne, she quickly shoved him aside and moved a few inches away from him.

"Keep your hands to yourself." Cologne said sharply. She stood there silently as Conan spoke to the Hulk.

Cologne did not feel like scolding the Hulk for his rudeness. It would be a waste of time, as she doubted it would cause the Hulk to change his behavior.

Cologne turned to Conan. "It is best not to provoke the Hulk. He may have a larger vocabularly than the Hulk I read about, but he's still not one to cross. You won't like him when he's angry."

"You do raise a good point. Still, the Hulk may have heard my reasons for suspecting Green Lantern, and decided he didn't need to come up with his own. Even though I voted against him, I do not believe Kyle Rayner is a bad person. He may merely be a unfortunate victim of circumstances...and our host's warped game."

Chris Lang 12-15-2006 09:16 PM

As the day dragged on, Cologne could not help noticing how quiet everyone had become. Some were watching television, or playing poker, but she had seen little enthusiasm. Meals were eaten mostly in silence.

Cologne knew why. Soon it would be time for another banishment. And soon, the renegade elves would strike again. She observed that some were glaring at others openly with mistrust, while others just sat silently, not wishing to look at anyone.

Cologne wondered about the Bard. The Bard was someone everyone had overlooked. Even Doom, who had been going around finding out everything he could about everyone else, had paid little attention to the Bard. The Bard had barely interacted with the rest of the group, except to cast his votes for banishment.

Maybe the Bard was deliberately trying not to call attention to himself. Cologne knew next to nothing about the Bard. Who was he? Where did he come from? Cologne wondered if the Bard would answer these questions if he was asked.

The Flash had been sociable back when everyone was first meeting each other, but he had been avoiding everyone lately. Cologne was not sure why that was, either.

Cologne looked around the main meeting area, and spoke.

"For the past few hours, I have been wondering if perhaps I have voted wrongly. While it is clear that Kyle Rayner's actions are those of a man with a guilty conscience, it is still not clear to me what he is truly feeling guilty about."

"I have considered changing my vote, but unless many of you change your votes within this hour, it will be unnecessary. At least seven people out of the fifteen of us have voted for the Joker. I could change my vote to...say, the Hulk for example...and it would probably make no difference because most of you have decided on the Joker."

"The Joker is a murderer, there is no doubt about that. The question is whether or not he is a murderer here. I am not sure. However, it seems most of you have already decided. If he is to be banished, so be it. I doubt anyone here will miss him."

"Of course, I could be wrong. If anyone has anything to say in his favor..." she briefly looked at the Joker before continuing "...besides the Joker himself... they should say it now. This is the Joker's last chance to avoid being sent to that Christmas movie prison our host showed us."

The Hulk was growing increasingly annoyed at Cologne. Not only did she rebuff and embarrass him earlier, when the Hulk was finally showing some signs of humanity, but now she was wavering in her resolve of the vote. "Listen lady, when this vote is done, and its revealed the Joker is not a traitor then maybe you'll come to realize nothing is as it seems here. Our pasts are done, everything we were is gone. Its just us in the present. Sure, we remember our past but it is nothing. We are Tabula Rasa in this place. And that's scary for most people. So they just act like sheep and follow the shepherd, never questioning, never thinking for themselves. Even you are wavering when here I was sure you were the most level headed among us."

The Hulk shook his head. "It comes down to trust. Nobody trusts anybody else. So they are following blindly the majority. A mojority led by the Renegades. The Joker will be voted out and our vote for Green Lantern will mean nothing other than the fact we are right. Oh and one of us will probably be killed for voicing our opinion so vociferously."

And Kyle came back, seing all the silence and spoke.:

"It does not matter what I say, I know you will not trust me big man, but if you call me the Leader of the Renegades, say it to my face. :As he was fed up with this Inqustion, and in all honesty, he has not been the murder in the Shadow, h ewas only respondible for the Burger King, and that blunder is what fuels his own self loathing.:

Anthony Johanson 12-15-2006 09:57 PM

Meanwhile, the Bard was playing his lute, but when he heard what the Hulk had to play, he stopped:

"Listen you great green behemoth, while Green Lantern is not that traitor, you have just given the renegades a leverage advantage. If Green Lantern is to survive this round, mate, one of you will probably be killed by the renegades to stir the group away from them, as it were. Then as he is voted out, another innocent will be gone."

"I did. I said 'Speak now or forever hold your peace." Cologne said, with a straight face.

"I was saying this was the last chance for people to change their votes, but so many have voted for the Joker that it is too late."

Cologne turned to the Joker. "Joker, I know you only by reputation. You may or may not have committed the murder we are about to punish you for, but I for one will not miss you. You deserved every defeat you suffered at the hands of Batman, and you will deserve what is about to happen to you now."

Cologne's face showed no emotion at all. She looked the Joker directly in the eyes.

"Goodbye." she said.

"You misunderstand me Jade Jaws, I am simply marking the dangers of your speech. However, if this is a route you are interested in travelling, you should know that I neither have the strength nor the intelligence to create a bomb or push the sled. All I can do is summon familiars, weak ones at that, and use amulets."

sorry about being late guys, but I had the first night of hannukah tonight, and i couldn't pass it up. Anyway, here you go.

So, santa makes his entrance, to give the good, or maybe bad, news.

Ok, now, you've all come to a conclusion. I won't ask, because I already know, you all voted for the Joker. Goodbye, you scary bastard. May you live happily in my other prison. Anyway, to all of you who voted for him, I just have to give you a big "Hooray." You were totally wrong once again. He wasn't anyone important, but he wasn't a renegade either. You let him be banished, all because of preconcieved notions. I'd listen to the old lady if I were you. She knows this game, even without ever having played it. For now, I'll return to my quarters. We shall reconvein in 48 hours on Sunday at 10 EST. Enjoy the rest of your night.

Not posting a kill tonight, because my renegades didn't send me anything. If I don't get anything by sunday, we won't do another banishment after that until I get one. So, renegades, PLEASE SEND ME YOUR KILLS. Anyway, good night everyone. I'm tired, and I'm testing out my new Mp3 player I got tonight. See ya.
"I did. I said 'Speak now or forever hold your peace." Cologne said, with a straight face.

"I was saying this was the last chance for people to change their votes, but so many have voted for the Joker that it is too late."
"Why would anyone want to change their vote? Joker may or may not be the killer here but the guy never been innocent. So I don't give a damn if he is banished."

Donna wistfully sighed when she realized that, once again, the killers had escaped justice. There were at least two villains here who she had no reason to trust. In fact, the Joker had long plagued one of her best friends, a young man who'd been a brother in spirit--if not by blood. However, the Joker had been too obvious a choice. Santa wouldn't logically choose such an obvious candidate for "Renegade Elf", although he'd deliberately placed him there as a distraction.

Once again, Wonder Girl revisited the idea of investigating the less obvious people as the killers. At least one person came to mind as a "Good Elf", but Donna would keep that belief secret for the moment. She didn't want to place a good-hearted person at grave risk. Instead, the Amazon would continue looking at the people who seemed like the least likely suspects.

As Donna mulled over these thoughts, she overheard Ant-Man. She shook her head when she heard his dismissive remarks. "You're wrong, Ant-Man. Believe me, I don't have the first reason to trust the Joker. However, Santa wouldn't make the game so easy as to feed us the votes. We have to look where we least expect to find the renegades."

Ant-Man stared at Donna's boobs while she was talking to him. Ant-Man nodded a couple of times and said "you're right" when she was finished though he did not agree with her.

Donna couldn't miss Ant-Man's overt focus on her breasts. Her cheeks flushed when she saw the idiot openly ogling her. He didn't even try to hide it. Reaching for his jaw at superhuman speed, Donna clenched it with a grip just this side of bruising. "Hey, scuzzball! I already told you not to stare at my chest when you're talking to me!"

Thrusting against Ant-Man, Wonder Girl sent him hurtling toward the nearest chair. She didn't push hard enough to break bones or cause serious injury. However, she wanted the shove to help that lech keep serious injury in mind at all times. Just in case he ever had another impulse to make eye contact with her breasts--instead of, y'know, her eyes.

"OoooOOooOO! Why are men such pigs?!"

RUMINATIONS: Of course, even if this WEREN'T a Traitor Game, I'd probably say that the Joker was too obvious in this case anyway. In any case, the re-presentation will continue in Part 19.
