OOC: Eternal Torment/Onslaught was a traitor? I thought he was just the Breaker?

Joe Acro 12-17-2006 11:24 PM

The Flash had been speedily following conversations. Despite his own thoughts and processings of events distracting him from participating in the conversations laid out before him, he knew what was happening. Much had happened since he last spoke, time in which he had visited the kitchen a few times. Now, Wally felt it was high time he involved himself in the debate.

But it's all very simple. Why a sleigh used to kill Super Skrull? Because the Renegades serve Santa. Why did the King die? Because the one acting Good force feared his good will was a sign of appeasement for future misdoings.

he was the first kill, and it was a VIligante/Good Guy kill, so it's down to 2 traitors, last time I checked. Meaning he had to be the third.

And I now came to my own disturbing conclusion as to who may have comented the murders, But wlel I'll wait til more votes, or well "evidence' occurs.

Smoke crept in through the doorway, accompanied by the rattling of chains. The floorboards creaked. Every flame became extinguished and the room fell into darkness.

And then, abruptly, the flames sparked back to life and the lights were restored.

Atop Luthor's breathless chest, a Christmas package was now present wrapped in fancy paper and bow.

A low hum could be heard from the chimney. At first, it was a faint buzz but it quickly rose to a roaring thunder as thousands of Locusts swarmed in through the chimney, some catching fire and falling to the ground in writhing agony. The swarm centered on Luthor's body and the present. The sounds of a dark feast permeated the chamber for a long moment and then, at once, the locusts slowly faded from view, leaving only an armored skeleton with chains wrapped around its neck and an the remnants of an unwrapped box atop it.

Inside the box was a oujia board. The guide rolled over the letters, one by one:

W - O - N - D - E - R - G - I - R - L

In the distance, the sound of Luthor's laughter could be heard in all directions.

Anthony Johanson 12-17-2006 11:28 PM

The Bard stood up, and stated:

"The list of suspects has grown, Donna, Doom, Archie, anyone could have done it, including me. However, Hulk and Fin Fang Foom are out because they would just crush Lex if they attempted for a strangulation. Archie or Doom don't strike me as ones to do for a mere strangulation. My prime suspects are Ant-Man, Wonder Girl, and The Flash. This is a tough descision, but I will choose... The Flash! He could have just dashed in, and killed Lex before he had any chance to fight back."

The Purple Skull 12-17-2006 11:28 PM

OOC: I think there were only 2 people assigned as traitors for this game.

tangentman 12-17-2006 11:29 PM

Even though this Flash was from a different time, Wonder Girl was still familiar with his super-speed cadence of speech. She frowned as she listened intently to Wally's rapidly clipped delivery. Then, Donna's eyes widened as what she heard sank in. "No!"

Donna shook her head as she watched Wally. "Did I hear you right? Did you...did you really just confess to being a renegade?" The young Amazon stared in naked disbelief at her friend.

However, before she had time to process the confession, she heard a swarm of locust. Donna repelled the insects which came closest to her with Amazonian bracelets. After the swarm clear, Donna watched the activity of the Ouija board. When she saw her codename spelled out, Donna just rolled her eyes as she heard Lex's mocking laughter. "Oh, you've gotta be kidding me! Like Lex wouldn't tell a lie from beyond the grave! It's just the sort of thing he'd do, just to be petty!"

Not to mention the big plot hole in your confession, if you are banished, your not going to see your family again, but be in tha tprison with the others.

Then again i tmakes sense to some degree.

In the bomb , your the fastest one, with the hlep of the other, could ahve made the bomb, and no one would know, just like how it happened.

ANd just then. I got to thinknig wha tmade me wrong with Donna, an dit hit me.

Donna is so storng, she doe snot have to strangle Lex, by God, she could have just crushed his throat, not like you Wally, who despite your speed, still haas human level strength, and the speed to move about without us even acknowledging you.

Well Wally, I for one change my vote.

Wally West, I take up your confession. (Only one time cna change vote right?)

Edit:

( Also the Sleigh thing, Wally with Spee d Force could have super acclerate dthe Sleigh with speed force, and with such force it would hit akin to a bomb, and be so fast the other could null the sound out with some gizmo.)

Cologne eyed Wally sharply.

"If you truly are one of the renegades who has become tired of this game already, it would make things so much easier for us. We could banish you, and then maybe, if we did things right, the other renegade would only be able to commit one more murder before being caught."

"But I cannot be sure things are that simple. In my home village, as an elder, I have encountered more than one case where someone confesses to a crime she did not commit, because she believes her friend did it and does not want her friend to be punished for it. It is possible you are confessing because you believe your friend Donna Troy may have murdered Lex Luthor."

"Still, we cannot eliminate you from suspicion. You could have easily committed both 'renegade elf' murders. With your super-speed, you could have easily propelled the sleigh and the explosive that killed the Super-Skrull. Luthor is another one you could have easily done."

"Let me sum up how it happened. We were all here, arguing and debating over who may have been the murderers. Luthor started the new round of voting by voting for Wonder Girl. Prompted by this, several us began voting. Ronan and Ant-Man also voted for Donna. Fin Fang Foom voted for me, supposedly because he couldn't decide and made a choice at random. We have only his word on that. Dr. Doom and Eric Cartman voted for Ant-Man."

"Lacking any new evidence, I voted for Green Lantern, who I had chosen before the Joker's banishment. It was just then that the lights went out, and then when they came back on, Santa Claus was among us. He told us that Lex Luthor had been strangled, and sure enough we found him dead in his chair. The murder weapon has yet to be found."

"You could have easily turned off the lights, strangled Lex Luthor, disposed of the murder weapon somewhere, and rejoined us without anyone noticing. So yes, you could have committed this murder. The question is...did you?"

"One thing I should warn you of. If you are NOT a murderer and you are confessing to it in order to drive suspicion away from you, it may backfire on you. You may find yourself banished."

Cologne turned to the rest of the group. "You have heard what he has to say. But we cannot be sure whether he is truly one of the murderers. We have several hours to think about this. Let us not make the same mistake we made with the Joker, and rush to judgement."

Cologne noted the stunned looks on the faces of some of the others. She had seen plenty of supernatural occurences such as this, so she was unfazed. She had seen far, far, worse things than a sudden swarm of locusts stripping a body till it was skeletonized.

"Well, then. That will make disposing of this body easy. Since all that's left is a skeleton, we won't have to worry about it starting to go bad. We won't need to put it in the freezer room to preserve it."

She did not comment on the 'clue' Luthor had left behind on the ouija board. As she gazed at the skeleton, she took a closer look at the chains wrapped around its neck. On closer inspection, the 'chains' appeared to be a string of Christmas lights.

"There's our murder weapon." Cologne mused. "I think we'll leave the skeleton here for now. Maybe later we'll move it to Luthor's quarters."

Cologne nodded at the Hulk. "Short and to the point. I like that."

Cologne gestured to the vote monitor screen their host had placed on one of the walls of the main room. "It seems our host is still counting the votes we made just before Luthor was killed. He has removed Luthor's vote, because his death disqualifies him from voting. He has also removed any votes for Luthor. But the rest are still there."

"My vote is still listed as being for Green Lantern. He is still a good suspect, but not the only one."

"Sorry, my speed got away from me. Yes, my strategy of declaring that I'm a Renegade may backfire. I may be voted out or killed by the Good Elf. But I suggest that the game isn't that simple. In many court cases confessions are not enough. And Cologne has already pointed out that I do have motive for making my declaration. The Wonder Girl I know would never be a Renegade and the death of Luthor does seem to implicate her. By Cologne's reasoning, my ploy may have worked. Cologne turned to face the Rogue Watcher.

"First off, I would appreciate it if you not refer to me as an old bag. There is no need for rudeness."

"I know very little about you. But the boy detective seemed to recognize you when you first appeared here. He has told me that he was involved in another 'Traitor game' similiar to this one. My guess is you were involved with that one as well."

"If I understand this correctly, you appear at these 'Traitor games', and pick someone at random to plead their innocence. Correct me if I'm wrong. I will understand if you do not wish to tell me anything more about yourself. This is not about you, this is about me."

Cologne looked introspective. "I have lived for three hundred years. In my younger days, I was a fighter myself. As I am sure our host knows already, and I am sure a number of you have already found out, I am still very skilled in martial arts and ancient Joketsuzoku techniques."

"I do not know how much time we have. Rogue Watcher, you come and go at will, and probably do not have the patience for a long discussion of the laws and customs of my village. Which is just as well, because they are irrelevant to this discussion."

"Under the right circumstances, I am capable of killing someone. However, I will only kill someone for what I believe is for the good of those I am responsible for. Under normal circumstances, I would not have killed Onslaught, the Super-Skrull, or Lex Luthor and then tried to hide responsibility for it. If I had decided they needed to die for the greater good, then I would have killed them in front of witnesses, without shutting off the lights or otherwise preventing people from seeing what I was doing."

"However, these are far from normal circumstances. Because our host chooses who the murderers will be, what we would do in normal circumstances is irrelevant."

"With this in mind, how can any of us plead our innocence? True, I listed seven or eight possibilities when we first discussed the Super-Skrull's death, but we cannot eliminate anyone."

"For what it is worth, I did not kill any of the victims. I am neither the 'Good Elf' nor one of the 'Renegade Elves'. I wish to end this with as few lives lost and as few people banished as possible. For one thing, I am opposed to needless death. If the 'Good Elf' kills one of the renegades, and then the other renegade is banished, I will be one of the happiest to see it happen. Secondly, I believe we shall need as many people as possible if we wish to persuade our host to free those he has imprisoned in his 'endless Christmas movie room'. I doubt any of us could do it alone."

"It is my honest desire to save as many people here as I can, and to return to my home dimension. I have to make sure my great-granddaughter is safe, and I need to hear the latest news from my home village. I have been away from there too long. And there is the website."

"What website?" asked someone.

Cologne smiled. "It is a web site many of my acquaintances are in charge of. It's an online bookstore that sells books, CDs and DVDS."

"I believe many of your universes have an equivalent. It's called Amazon.com."

Cologne turned back to the Rogue Watcher. "In any case, I have said all I wish to say. Now, if you'll excuse me, I wish to investigate the latest murder."
Wally replied to Cologne,

"Yes, Wonder Girl does seem likely to have killed Lex. She does have a lasso and was disputing with him. Kyle would have a similar motive. But if any of us from similar universes were renegades, why wouldn't we take out the people we know first? Why not kill the Joker or Luthor or even a fellow hero before killing that Super Skrull fellow? My "outing" might cause the Good Elf to strike at me just to reveal whether I was telling the truth or not, but I suggest we all look at those who like ties. Instead of voting out Wonder Girl, a few have decided to vote for me."
"If you're voting for Cartman...or anyone else for that matter, please say it in normal speed. Your vote might not be counted if it's hidden beneath what some might think is just babble."

Cologne paused. "So you think you may be killed by the Good Elf? To be honest, I would be interested in seeing how the Good Elf pulls it off. You move at super-speed, after all. Still, if our Good Elf was resourceful enough to fix a power re-router and drain all of Onslaught's energy with it, this vigilante is probably resourceful enough to kill someone with super-speed. Do not think yourself safe from the Good Elf, Wally West. Or from the renegade elves if you are not one of them."

Flashback to the time Dr. Doom tried to exact his revenge on Squirrel Girl by luring her to Grand Canyon.

Squirrel Girl: Ooooh Walnuts! tch tch tch And it's lying here on the ground. It's my lucky day!

While floating over the Canyon, Doom holds up a sign that reads "UH-OH!" before plunging to the ground.

RUMINATIONS: Well, expect the Mood Whiplash to get greater in the next few parts of this presentation. See Part 21 to see how things turn out for the possible 'Renegade'.
