Well, here it is.

"Enough is enough!" said Archie. "We've allowed the bad people to take away the meaning of Christmas with their nasty killings and setups! I say NO MORE! We're gonna have a Merry Christmas and New Years no matter WHAT our killer does! There's gonna be cheer and good times!!!"

Archie pointed to a pile of instruments he found lying around in Santa's workshop...

"Everybody! Grab an intrument and JAM! A one, a-two, a-one two three four...."

Sugar, ahh, Honey, honey. You are my candy girl, And you got me wanting you. Honey, ahh, Sugar, sugar. You are my candy girl, And you got me wanting you. I just can't believe the loveliness Of loving you. (I just can't believe it's true) I just can't believe the wonder Of this feeling, too. (I just can't believe it's true) Ahh, sugar, ahh, Honey, honey. You are my candy girl, And you got me wanting you.

Chris Lang 12-25-2006 09:23 PM

Cologne ignored the rude young man next to her. She had nothing to say to Kyle Rayner. She knew scolding him for his foolish behavior would accomplish nothing. Nor was there anything to be gained from telling Ant-Man how he should have taken her hint and killed the Flash instead of Cartman.

Instead, she needed to send a message to the people back at the workshop basement. She had written a note down for them not long after the deaths of Conan and the Flash, but how to make them find it?

--- --- --- ---

There was a crash of thunder in the main meeting area, and the lights momentarily went out. When they came on again, a few sheets of paper drifted from the ceiling to the floor.

It was a letter from Cologne. It read as follows:
My fellow captives,

If you are reading this, then it probably means I have fallen victim to the remaining renegade elf. I expected my fate was sealed as soon as the Flash was exposed as one of the renegades. The fact that he voted for me indicated that I was unlikely to be one of the renegade elves, and therefore there was no point in leaving me alive any further. The other renegade elf would never be able to trick you into banishing me, and there was too good a chance I would steer you in the right direction. So I could not be allowed to live.

If you are reading this shortly after my death, and before another murder has occured, there should be seven of you remaining. I wish I could say with honesty that I knew which of you was the renegade. But there is just too little evidence to point firmly in any one suspect's direction. The situation frustrates me just as much as it frustrates you.

There is still a chance you might find the right suspect soon. But I fear your troubles are not over once you catch the last renegade elf. Our host has promised nothing to you if you win, and his assistant, that cloaked figure, disturbs me. I fear neither of them are willing to let you leave. You must be prepared to put aside your differences after you banish the last murderer. For whatever happens next, you are all in it together.
The next few pages addressed some of the group individually. They read as follows:
Donna Troy, I will admit that I suspected you as one of the renegade elves, but your reaction to your friend's secret and his death seemed far too genuine to be an act. Take care of yourself as best you can. I can only hope and pray I am right about you, and that you will survive whatever is to come. You have great potential, and it would be sad to see it wasted.

Dr. Banner, you are a conflicted soul. Part of you is ruled by anger, and another by intellect. I hope you will find the right balance. Do not let anger cloud your judgement. You admired the fact that I appeared to be the most level-headed person in the group. Try to reach your conclusions out of reason, and not out of anger or your personal prejudices.

Dr. Doom, you are a man obsessed with power. But I see within you the potential for good. Had you not let your obsessions drive you, you may not have made as many enemies as you have. But it is not too late. If you survive this, try to make peace with your enemies. Together, you and your rival Reed Richards could probably make your world a better place, as long as you let go of your vendettas against him, Squirrel Girl, and anyone else.

Archie Andrews, whether you are the frightened youth you appear to be or one of the renegade elves, you are a victim of circumstances. You are wrapped up in something you have no business being involved in, all because of our host. These kinds of things do not happen where you come from, and you are having trouble coping. In order to survive this, both physically and mentally, you can no longer be a child. You have to be an adult, and face up to the ugly sides of reality. You have to find your inner strength, and soon.
The letter concluded with the following:
Time is short. My end, I believe, is near. I wish you luck in defeating the last renegade and his insane masters, for you truly will need it. Farewell...

Cologne
The letter ended there.

Anthony Johanson 12-25-2006 09:30 PM

The Bard looked over the letter for a few moments, and smirked slightly. There was no way of knowing for sure, but he thought that Cologne was giving a posthuminous hint. Chortling, he stated:

"While that may ahve been an honorable letter, I have a feeling she just pointed out the suspects. Counting the people who are not included in the letter, that would be myself, Fin Fang Foom, and Ronan the Accuser. I may be stretching things, but if that is your call Cologne, so be it."

tangentman 12-25-2006 10:56 PM

After Donna's turn at reading Cologne's letter, she nodded solemnly and passed it on. She regretted the Elder would not have a chance to meet her sister, Diana, whom she thought would have a most fascinating conversation. The woman's death was a needless waste. Sighing, Donna resolved herself to helping find the remaining renegade. If nothing else, to stop Santa and avenge their fallen companions.

When Bard pointed out what he perceived as the "suspect" list, Wonder Girl raised an eyebrow. "The omissions probably weren't an accident. Cologne doesn't seem like the sort to do anything without taking the thoughtful approach. However, let's take a closer look at the 'game' itself."

Donna frowned as she faced the remaining players. "We were all kidnapped by Santa Claus. He wants revenge for what he sees as a rude lack of gratitude for all the Christmas presents he gave over the years. Ergo, he's taking his revenge by making us play out this sick game with a twisted Christmas theme. That's the key--Christmas."

An excited look came over Donna's face. "The people chosen to play special roles are called 'Elves'. Our fallen comrades have been killed by Christmas decorations. Several of the chosen wear red or green." The Amazon gestured to her own costume. "What if we looked closer at that color scheme with our elves? IIRC, Luthor was the 'breaker', and he wore green. Ant-Man was the vigilante, and he wore red. Flash wore red. I think our last renegade will be wearing green--in one sense or another."

Superheroic 12-26-2006 10:09 AM
"Ruled by ANGER! I'd kill you if you weren't already dead!" Hulk screamed at the paper. "No. No. That won't solve anything," the Hulk concluded thoughtfully. Hulk took a deep breath.

"Cologne is certainly saying more in her omissions than in what she's written. She obviously had her suspicions against the Bard. She wants me to use my intellect so here goes. I will lay out why we need to vote The Bard out. The Bard pointed out that my accusations against the renegades, which included only Green Lantern specifically at the time, would make me a prime target of the Renegades. Well Duh. I was making myself a target purposely. I mean no one can defeat The Hulk. Anyway, the Bard was the other person I thought was a renegade, which I told him. I found it fitting that the only other member I suspected pointed out such an obvious ploy. So what it comes down to is this, if the Bard wasn't one of the renegades, then the real ones should have tried to take me out because it would have made Green Lantern and the Bard prime suspects for banishing saving them some trouble. Likewise, if I was taken out then, and the Bard was a renegade, well he still would have been a suspect and banished. But I am still alive and kicking. So that means the Bard doesn't want to be banished or considered a suspect. But by not moving against me he has still tipped his hand as a Traitor. Vote him out now!"

Jeff-E 12-26-2006 10:28 AM

OoC-Sorry that I haven't said anything in a few days, I've been busy with Xmas and all. I'm sure some of you know how it is.

BiC-Ronan didn't know what to do, the Lantern monkey was banished and the Old Terran was dead, he was left pondering many things:

Hmmm there are not many of us left, and I am not sure I see the end in sight. I have no real clues as to the identity of our captors last slave and that makes me... uneasy. I shall examine you all and cast my vote from there, however I let you all know that you are all now suspect to accusation.

Suddenly -- if such a thing can be said to be sudden -- there was a hiccup in the flow of time. Events happened... and did not happen... and happened once again.

An echo of a large bubble, painful to remember, blurred into view. Within the transparent bubble was a young man of around 16 or 17, with thick locks of red hair, and wearing a white button-up shirt and green slacks.

He emerged from the bubble. "Greetings, people of the future. My name is Lex Luthor. I have breached the time barrier to watch your New year's festivities... The fact that I am here and now must mean that my future self is also time travelling or otherwise... not present... in this era."

"I only wish my friend Superboy was here to take in these festivities with me. The aliens and wonderous creatures of your time would certainly contribute to his scientific curiousity, a quality I happen to admire greatly in the lad."

He regarded Wonder Girl. "I see my friend's fashion sense has caught on... and quite fetchingly." He grins genuinely and extends a hand. "You have the beauty of Aphrodite, my dear. And unless I miss my guess as to the purpose of your lovely ensemble, that costume denotes that you have the heart and conscience of a champion as well. You... are a super-hero, yes?"

He averted his eyes down towards his shoes.

"Please, forgive my forwardness. I tend to wax on at length; my skills sadly veer more towards science than social pleasantries so please excuse my untoward lavishing of praise."

He cleared his throat. "Perhaps you could give me some insight into these strange, final days of 2006... There was some turbulance in the timestream prior to my arrival..."

Chris Lang 12-27-2006 05:11 AM

In all the confusion, a sheet of paper stuck to the ceiling peeled off and landed on the floor. It was the one missing page from Cologne's letter. It clearly fit in between Cologne's message to Archie, and her farewell message. It read as follows:
I have not spent much time with Ronan, Fin Fang Foom, or the Bard, so what I say will be short. Ronan, I doubt you will ever let go of your hatred toward the Super-Skrull and his people, so I will not waste any time encouraging you to try. Fin Fang Foom and the Bard, you two have been saying very little throughout the game. If neither of you is the renegade elf, you had both best abandon your previous approach.

To all of you, I have done the best I could with the little evidence we have been given. I have tried to weigh carefully the pros and cons. All I can do now is advise that you think very carefully before casting your next votes. Again, I wish I had a better idea as to who is the last renegade. I suppose you could start by casting suspicion on those who did not vote for the Flash in the previous round, but there are no guarantees there either.
When put together with what had come before, the letter was complete.

Weirdopky 12-27-2006 09:29 AM

oh crap, guys, I forgot to tell you, when Cologne was killed, Chris Lang was the breaker, so I'm gonna do the deciding votes now. Sorry about that. Totally slipped my mind.

Jeff-E 12-27-2006 09:40 AM

After much deliberation Ronan finally speaks:

I have weighed this situation carefully, and now know who the second traitor is. You, meat-sack Dr.Doom, I ACCUSE YOU!!

OoC-Sorry for not having much interaction lately guys between christmas, getting ready for New Years, and getting back from Texas it's hard to find time, but I'm trying.

The Purple Skull/Dr. Doom-2 (mattbib, Anthony Johanson, Jeff-E) Anthony Johanson/The Bard-1 (Superheroic)

about 13 hours left, guys. Remember, it's at 11 tonight, not ten. Get ready. It's coming down to the wire.

Archie put his guitar down, annoyed that no one wanted to join his New Archies. He thought carefully about Cologne's letter.

"Well I've sure been making nothing but mistakes since I've gotten here! I even almost voted for Cologne! But something in her letter made me think."

"We havn't heard from YOU, Bard, in a long while. Why I wouldn't be surprised if you were the killer."

"Now then: pick up and instrument and be groovy! ah-one, ah-two, ah-one two three four..."

finalizing votes now. Polls are closed. I'll do my next post as the banishment/kill post.

Weirdopky 12-27-2006 11:03 PM

next kill & banishment Now that Dr. Doom knew it was his time to go, he had to make one final statement.

Curses to all of you. You're absolutely incorrect with your votes. You've all made a powerful enemy today, and once I return from this banishment, you will all PAY!!!!

Not likely, Doom. You're gone, and that's the end of it. Unfortunately, for the rest of you, he was not my renegade.

Santa said. Then, he counted the people in the room after Doom was killed, yet one was missing.

Where is Donna Troy, I mean Wonder Girl??

They go to the main eating table, and notice a trail of Eggnog flowing off of her face. She is lying on the floor, limp.

Ah, I see my renegade has made his move once again, and gone after Wonder Girl. It seems that he slipped a radioactive isotope of some kind into her drink while she wasn't looking, causing her death. How sad. Well, I guess that's it for now. Come back at 10 this friday for the next kill.

you heard him. Friday at 10. Also, we're coming down to the wire. The only people left are Hulk, the Bard, Ronan, Archie, & Fin Fang Foom. That means that there are only two more rounds until the game ends. Start the new voting round now.

"Fin Fang Foom does not know what to say...I was certain it was Doom.

"Who else would have access to a radioactive isotope?"

Chris Lang 12-27-2006 11:32 PM

Cologne shook her head sadly. "Those left in the basement have already lost, and they don't even know it yet. They really do have no idea who the last renegade elf is. They're letting their personal prejudices get the better of them again."

"I suppose I will try to send some sort of message to them the way Luthor did, but there's no guarantee they'll respond. Besides, I am too unsure who the killer is to point them in the right direction."

"They are lost." Cologne said. "If they catch the renegade elf, it will probably be despite themselves."

"We here in this 'Christmas movie room' should try to find a way out of here, instead."

Cologne's voice was not filled with confidence. If the King, who was known for showing up in weird places, could not get out of this place, how could the rest of them?

Cologne turned away from the others. She did not want them to know that she was well and truly afraid of what was going to happen. And she hated this feeling. She did not want to believe that her fate and the fates of the others were well and truly out of her hands. She did not want to believe that in the end, she was helpless. But everything seemed to be leading in that direction.

No, Cologne told herself. I cannot...must not allow myself to lose hope. Not even at this dark moment...

Cologne turned to the others in the room, including the new arrivals. "Despite all of this, I do not want our mad host or that equally insane assistant of his to win. I want there to be a way out of this, for all of us. Whether this means trying to send more messages to those still trapped in 'the game', or just trying to escape from here, we should still keep trying to thwart our host, no matter how hopeless the situation may seem."

Hmmm, well I was wrong about thinking my former ally Doom was the traitor. I am sure he was guilty of... something. Oh well he was only one of two suspects I had in mind. I know which of you Terran meat puppets is the final traitor and I shall reveal all. Just not at this moment............................................................................................................................... Though I am sure a pathetic Skrull freak had something to do with this.

Anthony Johanson 12-28-2006 01:30 AM

The Bard sighed, and stated;

"Before Hulk starts his rant about "How we were wrong and you must get rid me of me to survive, how I played you all like fools blah blah blah", let's get somewhere constructive, shall we? The only two people of producing a radioactive isotope is Archie Andrews and Ronan. The deciding factor is that while Archie and Ronan did not vote Flash out, it's a tough call. I'm going with the logical theory that Archie is playing dumb to fool us all.

You can stop playing dumb Arch, you have creativity up the wazoo. Therefore, Archie Andrews I deem you the traitor!"

mattbib 12-28-2006 01:45 AM

The Bard replied:

"Well, looks like I was right on his thought process. Despite the fact that it is flawed, I have to give kudos to the Hulk for sticking to his guns. That way, should I get voted out, all the blame falls on his big green shoulders.

Digressing here, while this may be Santa's secret workshop, I think the jolly fatass would not like his stuff being used. Therefore, it had to be made under a person's own power.

I am the weakest of this group, I cannot do much other than summon small and useless creatures. A radioactive isotope is far being from my power to do. Besides, I could not have created the bomb that killed Onslaught. Besides, WOnder Girl could have broke me like a toothpick.

Fin Fang Foom, while being able to probably crap radioactive Isotopes, would be too obvious to try and do that. I mean, someone would see some big green dragon-like being trying to crap a giant one into Wonder Girl's drink, so he is right out.

The Hulk, on the other hand, when working in his Banner state could probably create one. However, in his Hulk form and ruled by anger and idiocity, I'd say he does more smashy stuff than this. Hulk isn't the traitor.

Now, Archie is the plausible one of doing this. He has the Quantum Bands A.K.A Something he could use for all these crimes. Archie seems like a creative lad, so who's to say he didn't try to create all this to try and implicate each member. While he is also playing innocent, no one would vote against him. A radioactive isotope isn't far from his spectrum.

In short, if we want to get somewhere vote Archie Andrews."

Chris Lang 12-28-2006 05:15 PM

A cold wind blew in, though the workshop basement was underground and sealed off from the surface. The lights flickered, and a glowing figure appeared in the gloom.

It was Cologne, or rather a ghostly manisfestation of her.

"I am trapped in our host's 'endless Christmas movie room', wherever it is. Though part of me says that I should lead my fellow captives in an escape, and leave you to your fates, another part of me believes that I should not attempt anything without giving you at least one last hint."

Cologne's transparent face showed regret. "I have no insights, only suspicion like the rest of you. But I do believe that the renegade elf comes from the same universe as Dr. Doom and the Super-Skrull. My top suspect is one who claims he respected me. He may have been telling the truth -- and his respect for me may be what led him to kill me. I was too dangerous."

"I must say, however, that if my suspicion is correct, I have lost a lot of respect for the man in question. Were he a man of true courage and integrity, he would have confessed to being the renegade elf, even though the cost would be his own life."

"You can listen to me, or you can ignore me. I am no longer in any position to argue with you. But if you wish to have ANY hope of catching the renegade elf or surviving whatever else our host has in store for you, you must stop bickering like small children. I am afraid that is what you are doing now that the 'adults' have been removed from your midst."

"I must go. This may be the last time I speak with many of you. Please, remember me and all I have said. It may yet save you."

With that, the ghostly manisfestation of Cologne faded into the gloom. Shortly after that, the lights came back on.

Cologne sighed as she sat in the Christmas movie room. "I have done all I can for them." she said to the others. "They are on their own now, unless any of you have any ideas on how to help them."

She turned to Wonder Girl, Dr. Doom, and Green Lantern. Of those stranded with her, she believed they would probably be her most dependable allies, though she was sure the others would be needed as well.

"We also need to try to find a way out of here. Whether it means breaking out, or somehow persuading our host to let us go since we are not part of the game anymore, or some other means, we have to escape. If there is anything I truly hate, it is to feel helpless. And I believe all of you feel the same way."

"You're out of your blue-skinned mind Kree!" The Hulk launched himself towards Ronan. "I've only accused two people here of being traitors, that sissy Green Lantern and that prissy Bard. Well, the overgrown lizard too, but I was just mad because he attacked me. The point is I'm only guilty of having part in banishing Lantern-boy. It's all you other clowns who've voted out the other innocents."

Hulk moved inches within Ronan's face. "I should take the Hammer you are so fond of and stick it where the Hala sun doesn't shine. You get me Blue-boy?"

Ronan stands unwaivering:

Watch yourself monkey-puppet, if you are proven innocent I'm sure this Cl-Aus character will return you to your proper place once the endgame is played. If not than you are appropriatly accused. Either way is fine by me. But I warn you now I do not intimidate easily, Terran, and taking me down is more than even a Terran monkey of your calibur is capable of.

OoC-Gotta go to work early today, but Hulk/Superheroic I look forward to bantering with you in the future, with no Skrull I needed someone to play the opposite side, thanks:D

12 hours to go till the next banishment. I've decided to give out the breaker position once again. So the person will be notified now.

The Bard groaned, and stated:

"I hate to admit being wrong, but I think the old bat hit the nail right on the head. In fact, Hulk could have had his Banner persona doing this all along. Even if I am wrong, then I know it is Archie. Therefore, I change my vote to the Hulk!"

Superheroic 12-29-2006 01:00 PM

The Hulk turned from Ronan to stare at The Bard. "There it is. That's the mistake I was waiting for. You're just changing your vote to protect yourself. An innocent man wouldn't do that you lousy traitor."

He turned back to Ronan. "Remember this Accuser. Unless the others vote my way, I will be gone. And you will have accused yet another innocent, sided with the Renegade. This terran monkey will have played you Kree, again."

The Hulk began to walk away, "So much for Kree superiority."

RUMINATIONS: Well, of course I had no real idea who the last Renegade Elf was. But it's okay for Cologne to make mistakes, and I'm glad she does. She's not infallible in the source material either despite her wisdom and knowledge of ancient techniques and skills. In any case, we're closing in on the endgame and the Big Reveal. Stay tuned for Part 26.
